Back in Mexico after a fabulous Christmas/New Year's trip to the great white north! It's sunny and hot here and we're feeling much better! Although it was oh so wonderful to see everyone we had to fight through colds and dehydration. Total body dehydration it seemed. We couldn't believe how dried out we felt.....skin, nails.....even with all that drinking! Now we're all plumped up in Mexico (oh ya...did lots of eating too!)
Iridium was just fine on our return with all the usual smells, leaks and dirt but nothing major and so life onboard continues. We've started the new year with a great mix of work and play and hope to continue in that vein. We're planning a 5 day trip to Gualalajara with stops enroute with Gene and Barb of s/v Chalet Mer for later this month. We'll meet this afternoon with our British driver/boat captain to work out the final details. He's married to a Mexican and has a van and does guided tours.
As for life on Iridium we'll stay tied up here at Marina Riviera Nayarit at La Cruz de Huanacaxtle until after our inland trip giving us a chance to relax and get some jobs done. It's a great spot. Beautiful marina, well built, lovely yacht club building with an active social program (morning yoga, movie last night, mexican train game tonight, lecture tomorrow, bonfire Monday etc.). We haven't participated in any of the activities yet but may start with Mexican Train tonight. The little town is very cute, friendly, great produce, great restaurants and very cheap laundry service. Haven't mentioned before but laundry is a joy for cruisers! Did ours yesterday - all the winter sweaters, jeans etc. from our trip, two full loads. Dropped it up to the marina office and it was delivered clean and folded to the boat, all for 110 pesos ($8.25 Cdn)....now if I can just get them to pick it up....!
Later in the month we'll take a trip down the coast probably only as far as Barra de Navidad this year. We were planning to go as far as Zihuatanejo but on reflection we've decided to take our time and enjoy, which is really what it's all about. We've travelled a lot of miles already and most of it has been rushed, so time for a change to see if life is maybe more enjoyable at a slower pace....hmmmm. Interesting thought.
Happy New Year you two - enjoy and stay safe. Must admit we are envious of your Mexican skies and warm weather - not to mention life on board. The river is still open here but it's a cold, crisp and yes DRY day. Ahh clean laundry - need we say more. May the wind always be in your sails.

Happy New Year! Wonderful to read about your adventures. I hope you'll publish your log one day. :) Everyone's well and happy in Southern Ontario although there's a distinct lack of snow (which I personally find disappointing, but others don't complain so much). Sail on Sailors...be happy! Cam
